The move follows the new Organic Statute approved by Presidential Decree, which was published in the country’s gazette on 14 September.

The new model project, which is now in force, was approved this week by the National Traffic Board and Traffic Management.

It meets the recommendations of Southern African Development Community (SADC), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS),the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the respective Cross-Border-Transit  Facilitation Programme.

The innovations of the new Driving License Model include data such as the holder address,  as well as his/her medical, administrative or legal limitations.

The Ministry of Transport will also regularise, license, supervise and inspect the activity of the country's driving schools.
