President announces start of retention dams works in Cunene
Luanda - The construction of six retention dams, water catchment systems and waterways in Cunene province will start in the coming days, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, announced on Tuesday in Luanda.

In a speech on the State of the Nation, made at the National Assembly, the Head of State said that this was a project included in the emergency plan to combat the effects of drought.
Divided into six lots, the contract comprises the construction of the Cunene River catchment system, pumping, pressurized conduit, open channel from Cafu to Cuamato and 10 water wells.
The contract, to be signed with the company Sinohydro Angola, is valued at 21.4 billion Kz equivalent to US dollar 65.7 million.
Lot two provides for the construction of two waterways, one from Cuamato to Dombendola and from Cuamato to Namacunde, and another 20 water wells, with a contract to be also signed with the company Sinohydro Angola.
The contract is estimated at 22.8 bilion Kz, equivalent to US dollar 70.4 million.
The third lot includes the construction of a dam in Calucuve, a contract to be concluded with the consortium Omatapalo-Engenharia e Construção SA and Mota-Engil Angola SA. The work is valued at 57.8 billion Kz, equivalent to US dollar 177.3 million.
Lot 4 is expected to build a raceway associated with the Calucuve dam, from Mupa to Ondjiva, with the contract with China Road Bridge Corporation.
The value of this contract is 20. 5 billion Kz, equivalent to USD 62. 9 million.
Lot five focuses on the construction of a dam in Ndúe, in a contract to be signed with the company Sinohydro Angola.
The value of this contract is 62.7 billion equivalent to USD 192.5 million.
The sixth lot includes the construction of a water channel associated with the Ndúe Dam, which starts from Ndúe to Embundo, and 15 water wells, in a contract to be concluded with GHCB.
The contract is valued at 22.4 billion, USD 192.5 million.
