Sensitized and concerned for the welfare of children, the First Lady opened the gates of the Presidential Palace and welcomed the 367 infants from zero to 14 years old who are sheltered in different centres, such as “Remar”, “Pequena Semente”, “Santa Isabel”, “Lar Kuzola” and “Mama Margarida” shelter homes.

Sided by President João Lourenço, Ana Dias Lourenço distributed toys, kisses and hugs, conveying messages of love, affection, comfort and better days for the country, always focusing on the social welfare of children.

While addressing the children, Ana Dias Lourenço stressed the need to value the family, stating that the growth of a child depends on their good education, a good organization and family with values.

Meanwhile, also on Saturday, the Mass Media minister, Nuno Carnaval, lead a delegation made up of officials of public media organs to take comfort to 200 children in different shelter homes.

With toys, food, plasma TVs, DSTV Box with subscription for up to one year, stoves, refrigerators, toiletries, generators, water, juices, mattresses, sheets and a monetary value, Nuno Carnaval and his delegation went to meet needy children and showed solidarity.

The minister reaffirmed the need to stimulate love and compassion, stressing that where there is love there is hope, where there is hope there is solidarity, mercy and only like this can social peace be built so that a better world and society can be created.

Similar actions were promoted by the Ministry of Social Action, Ministry of Family Issues and Women's Promotion, as well as the Health Ministry.

For the same purpose, the Food Bank has donated non-perishable food, computers, miscellaneous furniture, clothing, shoes, office supplies, hygiene and cleaning products to some of the country's charity centres.
