The official said that the inclusion process should start within family, although the state has a big responsibility for promoting a strong society.
Delivering his speech at opening ceremony of Conference on the rights of disabled persons on Tuesday in Luanda, Lúcio do Amaral defended the need to find new approaches and tools for working with this group.
He said the process should starts with education, especially within family, which must accept the member as he/she is.
The official also recognised existing challenges in fully responding to the needs and doing away with the hindrances that affect this group.
On the other hand, the official stressed the government engagement in
providing support for the associations that work with disabled people
toward meeting their demand.
As result the government assisted from January to November this year
1,380 people, with 231others sent to specialised services of education, health, civil registration, employment and vocational training services.
In turn, the representative of the United Nations in Angola, Paolo Baladelli, reiterated his institution’s availability to continue support in the integration of people with disabilities into society and moving forward 2030 agenda, which aims to leave no one behind.
