The 57-year old journalist was a victim of a sudden death last Tuesday (26) after falling to his door shortly after returning from a bakery.

In the Head of State's message of condolence, read by the Secretary of the President of the Republic for Social Affairs, Fátima Viegas, the professionalism and courage of journalist Abel Abraão was highlighted, as well as his achievements during the post-election conflict of 1992.

João Lourenço also points out the “great courage and professionalism faced with danger and difficulties (…) dramas and vicissitudes, by Abel Abraão, that were accompanied with emotion by Angola and the world, by the way he conferred the truth and an effort of survival of all its inhabitants ”.

In his turn, the Minister of Social Communication, Nuno dos Anjos Caldas, in his message, read by the Secretary of State of the sector, Celso Malavoloneke, points out that with the physical disappearance of the radio host, “the journalistic class loses an intrepid and valiant professional and patriot”.

Messages were also read from the RNA Board of Directors, MPLA Local Cycle Deputies, the Angolan Journalists Union, which also highlighted the legacy of the failed one.

The journalist began his career in 1980, having become notable as a war reporter with coverage in Cuito of the most difficult moments of the 1992 post-election armed conflict.

Graduated in journalism in Cuba, Abel Abraão was awarded the Maboque Journalism Prize in its first edition in 1994.

The funeral ceremony was also attended by the governor of Bie, Pereira Alfredo, the chairman of the RNA Board of Directors Marcos Lopes, members of the Government, Judicial Magistrates and the Public Prosecutor, journalists from other parts of the country, family, friends and general population.

Abel Abraao leaves a widow and three children.
