In the framework of the event, which is being chaired by the minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel José Nunes Júnior, they declared to ANGOP that they will scrupulously comply with the legal requirements for PIIM to achieve the desired objectives, taking into account its importance in raising the welfare of the population and improving the image of the municipalities.

The administrator of the Municipality of Nhârea, central Bié Province, Maria Lúcia Chicapa, said that only the effective implementation of the programme allows the planned actions to respond to the citizens' wishes, with a view to solving the socioeconomic problems.

In this regard, he said, there will be earthworks for access roads, construction of schools and health facilities, in addition to the construction of a multi-sport field, to meet the needs of young people and, therefore, to promote sports in that municipality.

In making a positive assessment of PIIM, the administrator of Bungo, northern Province of Uíge, Panzo Joaquim, stressed the importance of the programme in promoting the development of municipalities, thus requiring a serious commitment of managers to the execution, so as to achieve the desired results, in light of the government's objectives.

To be implemented in the 164 municipalities of the country, PIIM has as priorities the sectors of education, health, road construction, energy and water, as well as basic sanitation. It also includes projects in the field of public safety, with the construction and equipping of police stations.

Participating in the Angolan Municipalities and Cities Forum, an initiative of the Angolan government, are ministers and 18 provincial governors, accompanied by their vice-governors, administrators of 164 municipalities and government’s social partners and guests.

On the first day, the event touched on topics such as “The State of Operation of PIIM”, “The proposal of the State General Budget for 2020”, “The assessment of the process of strengthening financial de-concentration”, “The programme of strengthening Administrative De-concentration”, “Women's Empowerment for Strengthening Family Structure and Poverty Reduction”.
