The importance of dialogue was stated Friday by director of the Provincial Office of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, Catarina Manuel Sebastião, in Quipungo municipality, southern Huila province.

Catarina Sebastião was addressing an international conference on the process and productive insertion of the SAN community, organised by the Rural Development and Sustainable Agriculture Programme (OCADEC).

The official said that the meeting aimed to strengthen and improve the insertion of the SAN community into the local government's political agenda.

The initiative is also meant to create strategies to improve the lives of ethnic minorities in the fields of food and nutrition security, land, representation, leadership, promotion of women and children.

She also noted that the starting point is to encourage family farm production and ongoing food security promotion of Hupa (Cacula) and Derruba and Mupembati (Quipungo) “Khoisas” group, including the group that emigrated to the Republic of Namibia.

Speaking on behalf of Huila provincial deputy governor for the political, social and economic sector, the manager Maria João Chipalavela, said the sharing of experiences will bring good practices on the social and productive insertion of the Sã Angolan community and Tsumbwe West ( Namibia).

“In 2020, after the end of the armed conflict in Angola, the Huila provincial government embarked, in collaboration with OCADEC and other civil society organisations, on interventions to protect the lives of our Sãs families residing in this part of Huilan territory,” she said.

“Villages were built in the municipalities of Chibia, Cacula and Quipungo (Huíla) to support for these families”, stressed the manager.
