Covid-19: Administrator wants rigour in churches

Saurimo - The municipal administrator of Saurimo, Neves Romão, Monday asked churches to strengthen biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

According to the official, who was speaking during a meeting with representatives of different local churches, he said it was imperative to strengthen the measures, given the four suspected cases of this pandemic in the province.

In addition to stressing the need to strengthen measures such as physical/social distancing, the use of face masks, frequent hand washing with water and soap or disinfecting them with alcohol gel, he urged the churches to continue helping the government to train new men, build schools and health centres, moralise society, as well as raise awareness among citizens about respect for life.

He stressed that the representatives of each religious congregation should work with zeal and dedication to prevent the pandemic from spreading within Lunda Sul.

 In Lunda Sul, the Provincial Office for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports controls 83 recognized and 94 illegal churches.

 Awareness raising

 Fifty young people assigned to the Young Volunteers Nucleus of the Angolan Youth Institute (IAJ) in Lunda Sul carried out, on the main streets of the city of Saurimo, Candembe markets and 14, awareness campaigns on Covid-19 prevention methods.

During the campaign, young people informed citizens about the dangers of the disease and the forms of prevention.
