This test, used for screening worldwide and by the World Health Organization (WHO), helps to find out what is the prevalence of people with immunity in a population and from there the prevalence of infected people.

Announced at a press conference to update Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the serological test allows health authorities to establish two situations, one of which is the person having the antibodies and not being infected (contracted the virus, eliminated the infection and developed immunity).

The other possibility of the test, which also helps to gauge the degree of exposure to the new coronavirus (a person tests positive, but has the antibodies, has the virus but in the process of elimination).

According to the minister, tests for Covid-19 are mandatory, especially in people or areas suspected of the disease, discouraging the attitudes of citizens who tend to resist the testing process, thus undermining the sanitary situation of the majority.

“The tests are to be done on a very specific group of people. It won't be for everyone”, she assured.

The spokeswoman for the Multi-sector Commission for Response to Covid-19 also warned the population to avoid rapid testing of the new coronavirus at the MEDITEX clinic, as it is not accredited and approved by the National Institute for Health Research (INIS).

The country has 353 infected citizens with 19 deaths, 108 recovered patients and 226 active accidents.
