“There are no children dying over measles in Lunda Norte Province as it has been disclosed on social media. There are many cases of malaria and severe anaemia that are already being tackled”, said the Health official during a visit to this region of Angola.

Leonardo Europeu, who leads a multi-sectoral team to work for eight days in the north-eastern region, said at least 100 children are currently hospitalized in Cafunfu Hospital, twelve of whom were isolated for showing signs of measles-infection.

In Cuango Municiplaity, the team will outline measures to prevent measles and malaria and coordinate a campaign that is expected to vaccinate roughly 53,000 children.
