Bié government announces construction of 48 schools
Cuito - Forty-eight new schools will be built this year (2020) in the nine municipalities of the central Bie province to cater for the 49,000 children who still remain outside the normal education system, said Wednesday the provincial governor, Pereira Alfredo.

Speaking to the press, ahead of the New Year's Eve in Cuito City, the governor stressed that the 48 schools will total 450 classrooms in the Cuito, Catabola, Cunhinga, Chitembo, Camacupa, Cuemba, Nhârea, Andulo and Chinguar (Bié).
He said that this year more than 17,000 children will study for the first time, due to the recruitment of 1,000 new teachers and the opening of 24 schools, totaling 210 classrooms.
Pereira Alfredo did not disclose the value of the investment, but stressed that the provincial government is committed to improving the quality of education by building educational infrastructures and recruiting teachers.
With a population of 1.4, in 2019 some 605,000 pupils, from the beginning to 13th grade, attended the class in Bie.
