Speaking to the press, Yanelixa López, coordinator of the university extension project “mentoring the families of children with special educational needs”, explained that the 1st inclusive one-day special education course is one of several measures implemented to declare ESPBengo an inclusive institution.

ESP Bengo currently has 27 students with motor disabilities, deafness and blindness who are experiencing difficulties related to the lack of Braille machines and books, ramps and lack of adequate toilets for wheelchair students.

She considers  it necessary for teachers and non-teaching staff to have sound knowledge about education and special educational needs.

As part of the university extension project, which has been running since 2017, ESP Bengo launched in 2018 a "Handbook for the Support of Families of Children with Special Needs".
