Speaking at the opening of the III Regional Workshop on the Review of Angola's Green Exports, which highlights coffee, banana and other tropical fruits, “one of the basic factors for national exports is the increase in production,” he said.
To him, the fact that domestic production is still insufficient in terms of the ability to place large quantities of products on the market and their quality in processing, are still obstacles to the products to be exported.
Once these conditions are met, he said, "only then we will be able to win the market, having enough production that allows us to act with competitive prices and so that we are highly competitive with our partners," he said.
The meeting aims to empower local government officials, Ministry of Commerce technicians, entrepreneurs, farmers, administrators and civil society to analyze green product export opportunities for partners in Southern Africa and the rest of the world.
José Bettencourt also highlighted the role of the agriculture sector in the diversification of the economy, considering coffee, bananas and other tropical fruits as products with a very strong impact on this process and for the increase of exports.
The Secretary of State for Trade, Amadeu de Jesus Nunes, said that Angola's competitive insertion in the regional and continental context is an express objective of the Government, hence the need to increase production and improve the conditions of access to international and regional markets.
