1º de Agosto and Petro face off for provincial championship title

Luanda - 1º de Agosto and Petro de Luanda go head to head on Wednesday for the title of the senior men's provincial basketball championship of Luanda, in the seventh and final round of the competition to be played at home of the former.

The two teams co-lead the championship with 12 points.

In the last encounter held in November last year 1º de Agosto beat Petro in the final of the Victorino Cunha Tournament (former coach of Angola national team and of 1ºAgosto).

The provincial championship, which since 2016 was not held, is being organized by clubs and the Luanda Basketball Association (APBL) as an escape route to the standoff the Angolan Basketball Federation has faced with referees over the lack of payment from 2018.
