Angola wants to reduce carbon intensity
Luanda - The country will reduce carbon intensity in electricity production by 35 percent until 2030 as part of the implementation of the proposed 2018-2030 National Climate Change Strategy.

The information was advanced this Friday in Luanda by the head of the Department of Drought and Desertification of the Ministry of Environment, Luís Constantino.
The energy sector is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, followed by agriculture and industry, according to the report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Speaking to ANGOP on the sidelines of the workshop on Journalism and the Environment, he stressed that the new strategy has pillars that will support the country in meeting international commitments and climate change needs.
According to Luis Constantino, to mitigate the impact of climate change in the country, programs should be implemented in partnership with sectors such as agriculture, fisheries and forests.
To combat the greenhouse effect, the Government has adapted a drought and flood warning system in the Cuvulai watershed to allow communities in the region to adapt to the effects of change and become more resilient.
Angola is vulnerable to climate change, floods, droughts, soil erosion and rising sea levels are the main effects of climate change in the country, according to a report from the Ministry of Environment.
