Social Transfer Program arrives in Moxico

Luena - The Social Monetary Transfer Program (TSM), which aims to improve the well-being of children through the financial allocation, will be launched on Wednesday (28), in the district of Chitali, municipality of Moxico, by the minister of Social Action, Family and Women's Promotion (MASFAMU), Faustina Alves.

According to the minister, with the Monetary Social Transfers, in total, it is expected to help three children under 5 years old in every 14.000 needy families in the provinces of Moxico, Uíge and Bié.

Without specifying the monetary values ??involved in the project, Faustina Alves explained that the funds to be allocated to parents and carers will be used to monetize businesses within their localities.

The value, she added, had also been for the purchase of means for nutrition, hygiene materials to prevent disease to the children.

For the success of this pilot project, the official asked for collaboration from the provincial governments and the municipal administrations concerned.

The TSM was launched in the province of Bié, on the 23rd  August, and will cover the municipalities of Chinguar, Catabola (Bié) Lucusse, Camanongue (Moxico), Damba and Uíge (Uíge).

The minister, who is paying  a three-days working visit to Moxico, held a courtesy meeting with Governor Gonçalves Muandumba, visited the facilities of the Institute of Socio-Professional Reintegration of Former Military (IRSEM) and the National Children's Institute (INAC). .

On Wednesday, 28, the minister travels to the Chitali regency, more than 30 kilometers south of Luena city, where she will launch the local TSM, culminating with the field trip in the commune of Lucusse.

For the implementation of this program, which runs until December 2020, MASFAMU is funded by the European Union (EU) and the technical support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
