Covid-19: Police vow to crackdown on basic product smuggling
Luanda - Citizens who are caught transporting food items that make up the basic basket, fuel and other banned basic essential products to other countries via the border will be arrested and convicted, warns the National Police.

Speaking at the update press conference on covid-19, in the last 24 hours, the spokesman for the Order and Security forces, Waldemar José, said that the transport of the basic goods is prohibited under the Decree on the State of Public Calamity.
The deputy commissioner warned that, despite the easing of some measures in the context of the ongoing Public Calamity Situation, whoever violates the other established rules will be arrested and summarily convicted of the crime of disobedience.
“We will first of all stick to the pedagogical path. But in the event of resistance by the citizen, whoever he is, he will be arrested and sentenced. The quality of the offender will not matter. We all have to comply with the law, ”he said.
In the last 24 hours, another new case of covid-19 was confirmed, bringing the cases to a total of 71 (43 from local transmission), four deaths, 18 recovered and 49 active and stable.
