Vice President returns to Luanda

Luanda - Angola Vice President Bornito de Sousa returned to Luanda on Thursday after attending the 9th Summit of Heads of States and Government of Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) held in Nairobi, Kenya, on 9 and 10 December.

Vice President, Bornito de Sousa, returns to Luanda from Kenya

Bornito de Sousa was received at Luanda's airport by the Minister of State and Chief of Civil Affairs Office of the President of the Republic, Frederico Cardoso, and members of his Office.
 

The Vice President attended the event on behalf of the Head of State, João Lourenço.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Bornito de Sousa expressed the country's commitment to successfully hold the next ACP 2022 summit, with date to be set".
 

During the summit, Bornito de Sousa participated in several parallel activities.

Among them, the meeting with the President of Kenya, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, who expressed his country's interest in deepening relations with Angola in various fields.
 

Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta reiterated his congratulations on the appointment of Angolan Georges Chikoti to the post of ACP Secretary General, with whom he will work in the coming years.
 

Bornito de Sousa also met with Gabon's Foreign Minister and Kenyan Vice President Alain-Claude Bilie-By-Nze and Willians Ruto, respectively.

During the meeting, the Angolan ambassador to Belgium, Georges Chikoti, was elected general secretary of the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group.

Chikoti beat other candidates of Malawi Brave Rona Ndisale and Zimbabwe Chifamba Tadeus Tafirenyika.

However, it was concluded that Luanda, Angola, will host the 10th ACP Summit in 2022, as announced during the event.
 

The end of the event was marked by reading of  "Nairobi Declaration" , a document in which ACP countries reaffirmed their commitment to "maintain the political momentum" at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP25) held in Madrid ( ....).
