The project manager, Santos Francisco, who was speaking to ANGOP on Thursday, said the pineapple plantation started two years ago and covers a 30 hectare area.

He said that Luanda has been the final destination market of the product, stating efforts are in progress to start exporting the surplus of production to South Africa in the coming future.

''We are working to increase and in large scale the production in order to align to the programme to Support Production, Diversification of Exports and Replacement of Imports (PRODESI) to contribute to raising and saving of foreign exchange” he stressed.

He also said the production, which includes plantations of other products such as orange, tangerine and lemons, is secured by 50 national workers, mainly young people.

The Kiowa village is located 12km south of Tomboco's municipal headquarters, Zaire province.
