If Angola succeed in qualifying, they will be in a position to fight for a place at the Japan Olympics2020.

Coach Apolinário Paquete was confident in the athletes potential, for a good performance in the race, although recognizing the ability of other opponents.

According to the coach, this is a difficult bet due to the little preparation time they had.

The national squad, who underwent a short preparation training programme in Luanda, is composed by Italle Lucas, Regina Pequeno, Rosamira Daniel, Felizarda Ventura, Eduarda Gabriel, Jessica Malagi, Joana Antonio, Angelina Golome (Interclube), Fineza Eusébio, Elizabeth Mateus, Juda Quindanda and Avelina Peso (1º de Agosto).

The national team is part of group B, with Senegal, their debut opponents on Thursday, and Mali.

Group A includes Nigeria, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The top placed two teams of each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

The Semi-final winners will be the ones to qualify for the Spain competition.

The Angolan squad participated in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
