Luanda - The secretariat of the ruling MPLA party’s political bureau and the leaders of recognised churches in Angola are meeting this Wednesday to discuss the impact of covid-19 in Angola.

The participants are analysing, among other issues, national production, cleaning of parallel markets and movement of people and goods, throughout the national territory.

The meeting also reflects the actions of the National Police in recent months.

Addressing an opening ceremony, MPLA vice-president, Luísa Damião, said that the party considers the role of the church fundamental in building a strong, prosperous and cohesive Angola, with increasingly freedom of religion and worship.

In turn, the religious leaders call for the creation of mechanisms that facilitate greater awareness on danger of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

The meeting is expected to produce a statement, with recommendations and conclusions.

The country has 3,569 positive cases, with 139 deaths.

Also 1,332 recovered and 2,098 active.
