Angola to create 250,000 jobs in three years -minister

Luanda - The Angolan government is betting on the creation of 250,000 jobs in various sectors within the next three years, the minister of Public Administration and Social Security, (MAPTSS), Jesus Maiato, said on Monday in Geneva, Switzerland.

The minister, who is taking part in the International Labour Organization (ILO) meeting, said the goal is part of the government’s Action Plan for Promotion of Employability (PAPE), whose amount for its execution is estimated at 21 billion kwanzas and has recently been approved by the country’s president. 

The main goal of the programme is to create jobs for unemployed young people and those seeking first employment.

According to the official, the implementation of the programme is to have the direct intervention of several ministerial sectors such as, agriculture, fishing, livestock, civil construction, energy and waters, tourism among others.

In order for the envisaged goal to be achieved, the MAPTSS is rehabilitating its vocational centres nationwide with the construction of new ones included.
