According to the note, the Ministry recognizes the commitment of the board and workers to providing a service of public interest and encourages them, in the light of the country's current political and governance cycle, to gradually resume its role as the main national information source, as well as to continue the process of modernization based on multimedia, to adapt to the new technological communication context.
Minister João Melo concludes, in the same document signed by him, that on behalf of all the workers of the Media Ministry and in his personal name, he congratulates the staffs and the management of the Angola Press Agency on this commemoration occasion.
ANGOP is the only news agency in the country and is focused on collecting, preparing and distributing in an exclusive regime, both in Angola and abroad, news based on objective information on national and international events.
The public company provides through electronic link, Internet or e-mail, directly or through other previously agreed routes, news to the national and foreign news agencies, based on signed
commitments for that purpose.
ANGOP was created in July 1975, under the name Angola Press National Agency (ANAP). At the beginning, its work was distributed in the form of a printed bulletin, and on October 30 of that year it launched its first telegraphic dispatch.
Annually, the company's anniversary is celebrated on 30 October.
