Reintegration of former combatants remains priority

Luanda - The Reintegration and socio-economic assistance to former combatants and veterans of the motherland are part of the sector's priorities to improve the living conditions of the staff and their families, said Friday the incumbent minister Cândido Pereira Van-Dúnem.

The minister was speaking at the opening session of the 17th Consultative Council of the Ministry under the motto "Strengthening the Organisation of the Sector and Dignifying the Former Combatant", running between 21 and 22 this month.

The official noted that the sector has conducted a set of economic and social actions aimed at dignifying the class.

He said that the institution is also working on the implementation of the programmes focused on development, creation and technical assistance of cooperatives.

Cândido Pereira Van-Dúnem mentioned 190 agro-livestock and 80 fishing cooperatives as having been identified.

According to him, the intention is to help families generate job and combat hunger and poverty.

On the other hand, the minister stressed the  institution exchanged relations on bilateral cooperation with counterparts.

The initiative allowed the signing of key legal tool such as the letter of intent with Portugal and the Memorandum of Understanding and Action Plan established with South Korea.

In this area, the minister also pointed to the intensification of actions in the field of professional and administrative technical training in India, Algeria and Morocco.

According to the official, paying attention to former fighters and veterans of the motherland, is a duty of honour by the State and society."

The event is analysing, among other matters, the approval of report on activities for 2016 and planning those (activities) for the current year.
