The Angolan delegation, led by Health Minister, Luís Gomes Sambo, is integrated by Katiza Mangueira, head of the Medicine and Equipment Department, Miguel de Oliveira, director of the National Institute of Public Health, Tânia Lourenço, and Adviser to the Ministry of Health and Agostinho Tavares, Angola's ambassador to the United States.
On the other hand, the USA delegation is comprised by the US Ambassador to Angola Helen La Lime, Derrick Brown, USAID director in Angola and Carey Spear, PEPFAR coordinator.
PEPFAR is considered the cornerstone and major component of the US President's Global Health Initiative, with special emphasis on improving the health of women, newborns and children.
The goal of the Global Health Initiative is to save the largest number of lives by supporting countries in implementing their programmes to improve health conditions.
With PEPFAR project the United States provides Angola with technical assistance to maximize the quality, coverage and impact of the national response to HIV/AIDS.
