Foreign minister attends 50th anniversary of Equatorial Guinea independence day

Luanda - Angola's Foreign Affairs minister Manuel Domingos Augusto left Thursday for Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, to attend the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the country's independence on Friday, 12th October.

According to a press release from the Foreign Ministry (Mirex) reached Angop, the top

diplomat will represent the Angolan President, João Lourenço.

Manuel Augusto is bearing a message from the Angolan statesman to his Equato-Guinean counterpart, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbassogo.

Angola and Equatorial Guinea, the two member countries of the Community of the Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), enjoy strong political, diplomatic and cultural relations for several years.

The two countries have recently concluded a Visa Waiver Agreement in diplomatic and service passports, which has been in force since May this year.

The two countries’ authorities have been working on diversification of cooperation.

Manuel Augusto returns to Luanda on Saturday.
