Beijing - The Angolan President, João Lourenço, requested on Tuesday in Beijing that Angola and China reactivate the Monitoring Commission for the economic and commercial cooperation.

According to the Angolan Head of State, the initiative is of paramount importance, since it will enable the two countries to make an effective monitoring of all aspects related to their bilateral cooperation.

João Lourenço, who was addressing the opening of the meeting with the Chinese Premier, Li Keqiang, manifested satisfaction with the availability showed by the Asian country to help Angola in its efforts to boost local development.

Angola and China have diplomatic relation since 1983.

In the last 16 years, China has become the main foreign financier of infrastructures in Angola. The African country is currently the third main economic partner of the Asian nation in Africa.

Despite being satisfied with the cooperation level, the Angolan President also manifested to the Chinese Premier the country’s interest to maintain and bolster the exchange between the two nations, underling that the strategic partnership could be some sort of paradigm for the exchange between other African countries.

In addition, the African leader spoke of Angola’s participation in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which according to him, represents a sign that both states give much importance to this level of cooperation.

The results reached by the Forum, said the Angolan President, were highly appreciated by Angola and the African countries in general, since the model of cooperation adopted by China meets the African continent’s development needs.

Negotiations for the signing of four juridical tools are due to be discussed this Tuesday.

The visit of the Angolan President to China ends on Wednesday.
