Regarding the objectives of the Zimbabwe’s stateman visit, the director for Africa and Middle East, of the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Joaquim do Espírito Santo, said that it falls under the presidency of Angola in the SADC Organ for Politics, Defence and Security.
The visit also served to provide information to his Angolan counterpart on the situation in Zimbabwe concerning the preparations of the general elections scheduled for this year, the official said.
Joaquim do Espírito Santo added that in the context of economic diversification, Angola may re-launch cooperation with Zimbabwe in the agriculture, hotel and tourism sectors.
The diplomat also spoke of the cooperation strengthening in the framework of South-South relations between the two countries.
During his few hours stay in Luanda, the Zimbabwean president also held a meeting with his country's community members residing in Angola.
Last December, Zimbabwe's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Subusiso Moyo, confirmed that Angola and Zimbabwe have decided to increase economic cooperation and maintain privileged ties in the political arena.
The two countries maintain cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, transport and training.
