The minister, who arrived on Thursday afternoon at José Marti Airport, began the agenda with a working meeting with Cuban Vice-president Ricardo Cabrisas, who spoke about the "excellent cooperation relations" between the countries.
At the one-hour meeting, the two delegations discussed economic cooperation and placed particular emphasis on education and health fields.
The meeting also discussed the theme of the recovery of the oil price (Angola's main export product), which seeks to stabilize in the international market, after the strong crisis started at the end of 2014.
According to Cuban Vice-president, the delegations of the two countries spoke about the prospects for recovery of the price of crude oil, whose fall has slowed down the growth of the Angolan economy and reduced the country's revenues.
The Cuban official, speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, also said that Angola and Cuba have traditional relations, stressing that the prospects for this exchange "are still very clear and positive".
João Lourenço, who was received at the José Marti airport, by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra, is expected to meet with the President of the Republic of Cuba, Raúl Castro, on Friday.
According to his official agenda released to the Angolan press, the Minister of National Defense must deliver a message from the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, to his Cuban counterpart.
