The official, who attended the Africa Business Forum on the sidelines of the 33rd African Union Summit in Addis Ababa pointed out that solar parks will be installed in the provinces of Benguela, Moxico, Lunda Sul, Lunda Norte and Huambo.

According to the minister, the planned investment package is of about to USD 500 million with two years for its implementation.

To the minister, the country has been investing in energetic transition, which means the reduction of electricity production with fossil fuels.

However, the official stressed that the ministry is working with partners on promoting renewable energy projects to in the inland zones of the country, far from the coast, where electricity is very scarce.

Regarding the forum, it focused on establishing measures for African countries to provide instruments to allow financing of renewable energies projects using the sun, which is the greatest energetic resource that Africa has.

According to the Angolan minister, the sun is a clear and renewable energy whose costs are increasingly reduced.

“What is intended is to make fast energetic transition of the fossil fuel (expensive) to clear and renewable fuels (cheap)”, said the minister.
