Speaking to the press, at the end of his visit to the clandestine sites of slaughter of oxen, goats and pigs, the governor was worried about what he saw, saying that it was urgent to put an end to this situation.
He assumed that meat from clandestine slaughter, which is freely marketed in informal markets, poses a threat to public health, since animals are slaughtered without prior medical consultation.
The proliferation of clandestine animal slaughterhouses, according to João Baptista Kussmua, is a clear demonstration that the veterinary services cannot stop the phenomenon, appealing, therefore, the involvement of the National Police.
The governor also visited the facilities of the industrial slaughterhouse of Chiva (Dinaprop), with three slaughter lines (bovine, swine and goat) with capacity for 250 animals per day, paralyzed since 1992.
