Speaking to Angop, in Luanda, as part of the 46th anniversary of Handball in Angola, marked Wednesday (20), he said that after the pandemic, in March, the federation, advised by the Sports Medicine Centre, preventively suspended the provincial championships.
This was followed by a statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports instructing the same procedure in all sports activities in the country.
He said that the competition’s schedules will be redone as soon as another communication is issued authorizing the return of the competition in the manner that the national health directorate indicates.
He reiterated that there are still no reasons for the cancellation of the provincial tournaments (qualifier for nationals), because the International Handball Federation (IHF) also changed the schedule due to the pandemic.
The World Championship in junior women will be played in December, in which Angola will participate.
"I see no reason to cancel the provincial championships that were taking place," he maintained, adding that it will be less painful to agree with the associations new forms of competition for the award of the title.
He also indicated that one of the alternatives would be to shorten the events, choosing, for example, to play in five rounds (instead of ten) to allow the holding of the National Championships, generally held from October of each year.
The outgoing FAAND president (2008/2020) said he was waiting for the supervisory ministry to lift the restriction of all sports activities, to meet with associations and clubs with a view to a decision.
