Basketball: Angola announces 12 players to compete in Mali Afrobasket

Luanda - The head coach of the Angolan national women's basketball team, Jaime Covilhã, announced on Friday in Luanda the 12 players selected to compete in the FIBA Africa Women?s Championship, Afrobasket'2018, to take place August 18-27 in Bamako city, Mali.

Check the list of the 12 summoned players:

Fineza Eusébio and Italee Lucas (point guards), Rosa Gala and Artémis Afonso (shooting guards), Felizarda Jorge, Sónia Guadalupe and Clarisse Mpaca (small forwards), Nguendula Filipe and Ana Gonçalves (power forwards), Luísa Tomás, Whitney Miguel and Cristina Matiquite (centers).

Rudiane Eduardo and Joana António were excluded from the squad due to bureaucratic matters.

Angola held a pre-competitive training programme in Brazil, where they played six friendly games, including two matches against Brazil.

In Afrobasket, Angola is comprised in group A, alongside with Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Tunisia and Mali (host country).

Group B consists of Senegal (defending champion), Nigeria, Egypt, Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique.
